Duration drives more urgency than dates 👇 At least that's according to a 2023 study which found that duration (rather than calendar dates) drives more urgency. Durations (e.g., "3 days") prompt action more effectively than specific dates (e.g., "July 1st"). I tried to get Seth Godin to come on my podcast, but I made a mistake.

The effort a reader puts into understanding a message will make that message more memorable. The simplest way to do this with your writing is to hide some letters in a word. In a 2020 study by Leo Burnett, Mike Trehorne and Richard Shotton, participants were shown brand names with missing letters (e.g., H_BC) and then fully presented brands (e.g., HSBC). Later, readers were asked which brands they recalled. Turns out, hiding letters (e.g., H_BC) boosts recall by 14%. ---- Want more copy-writing tips like this?
